Brought up on Dartmoor, Maxine McAdams now lives in the South Hams and works throughout Devon and Cornwall. She was trained by and now is an instructor with the Devon Rural Skills Trust a charity which was established in 1980 with the aim of keeping alive the traditional rural skills of the county.

Maxine was trained by working craftspeople, and places great emphasis on the importance of quality workmanship and attention to detail. Wherever possible, she believes in building with materials sourced close to the local area, in order to help maintain the distinctive character and styles of the different regions within the South West.
